Versant is seeking a Senior Systems Administrator who will be responsible for administering Versant computer systems -- including UNIX systems, PC's, and LAN/WAN.

In addition, this person will participate in:

• Capacity planning
• Evaluating new technology
• Implementing and configuring new hardware and software
• Successfully dealing with third party vendors
• Providing support for end users

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Perform systems management of UNIX including SUN OS/Solaris, HP UX, IBM AIX, DEC UNIX and WIN 95/NT
• Perform network management of Versant's LAN/WAN in a multi-protocol environment - TCP/IP, Netbeui, IPX/SPX, and Localtalk
• Plan configuration and installation of new hardware and software, including operating systems and third party applications
• Work with hardware/software vendors on troubleshooting hardware and software
• Perform back-ups and administer off-site storage
• Participate in evaluation and selection of new hardware and software

The Senior Systems Administrator should have:

• A Bachelor's degree in computer science or engineering
• Two or more years extensive UNIX systems administration experience in multi-UNIX OS environment, particularly with SUN OS/Solaris
• Experience in a multi-protocol LAN/WAN including TCP/IP, IPX, SPX, Netbeui, Localtalk; NIS, DNS, sendmail, News, NFS and shell scripts programming; and PC hardware including MS Windows, Win 95, Win NT, and Macintosh
• Knowledge of electronic mail and other software products such as CC Mail and Microsoft Office
